Thy Kin-dom Come

Sunday’s sermon title is not “Thy Kingdom Come,” but “Thy Kin-dom Come.” Do you have an idea about
where I am coming from in this meditation? It is based on “Do not have other gods before me” (Exodus
20: 3) and part of The Lord’s Prayer where Jesus says, “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as
it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:9-10). What gods do we worship that keep that “kin-dom” from finding a
home in our hearts as well as creating space for healing in societal relationships? How are you and I akin
in light of our mutual desire to live like a kin-dom kid in the midst of making decisions that thwart its
coming? Maybe we can sort this out a bit on Sunday. I hope to see you there. – Rev. Dr. Mel Leaman
